  • Aretha Franklin - I say a little prayer

    3:34

    Lyrics:
    The moment I wake up
Before I put on my makeup
I say a little pray for you
    While combing my hair now,
And wondering what dress to wear now,
I say a little prayer for you

Forever, and ever, you'll stay in my heart
    and I will love you
Forever, and ever, we never will part
    Oh, how I love you
Together, forever, that's how it must be
    To live without you
Would only meen heartbreak for me.

I run for the bus, dear,
While riding I think of us, dear,
I say a little prayer for you.
At work I just take time
And all through my coffee break-time,
I say a little prayer for you.

Forever, and ever, you'll stay in my heart
    and I will love you
Forever, and ever we never will part
    Oh, how I'll love you
Together, forever, that's how it must be
    To live without you
Would only mean heartbreak for me.

I say a little prayer for you

I say a little prayer for you

My darling believe me, ( beleive me)
For me there is no one but you!
Please love me too (answer his pray)
And I'm in love with you (answer his pray)
Answer my prayer now babe (answer his pray)

Forever, and ever, you'll stay in my heart
    and I will love you
Forever, and ever we never will part
    Oh, how I'll love you
Together, forever, that's how it must be
    To live without you
Would only mean heartbreak for me (oooooooooh)

    Lyrics

    Like a warrior that fights
    And wins the battle
I know the taste of victory
Though I went through some nights
    Consumed by shadows
    I was crippled emotionally

Somehow I made it through the heartache
    Yes I did. I escaped.
I found my way out of the darkness
I kept my faith (I know you did), kept my faith

When the river was deep I didn't falter
When the mountain was high I still believed
When the valley was low it didn't stop me, no no
    I knew you were waiting.
I knew you were waiting for me

    With an endless desire
    I kept on searching
Sure in time our eyes would meet
Like the bridge is on fire
    The hurt is over,
One touch and you set me free

    No, I don't regret a single moment,
    No, I don't (I know you don't) looking back
When I think of all those disappointments
I just laugh (I know you do), I just laugh

When the river was deep I didn't falter
When the mountain was high I still believed
When the valley was low it didn't stop me
    I knew you were waiting.
I knew you were waiting for me

So we were drawn together through destiny (oh, boy)
I know this love we shared was meant to be

    I knew you were waiting,
    Knew you were waiting
    I knew you were waiting,
Knew you were waiting for me

    I didn't falter
    I still believed
When the valley was low it didn't stop me
    I knew you were waiting.
I knew you were waiting for me

    I didn't falter
When the mountain was high I still believed
When the valley was low it didn't stop me
    I knew you were waiting.
I knew you were waiting for me

    ARETHA FRANKLIN

    LYRICS:
You're a no good heart breaker
    You're a liar and you're a cheat
    And I don't know why
I let you do these things to me
    My friends keep telling me
    That you ain't no good
But oh, but they don't know
That I'd leave you if I could

    I guess I'm uptight
    And I'm stuck like glue
    'Cause I ain't never
    I ain't never, I ain't never, no, no (loved a man)
(The way that I, I love you)

    Some time ago I thought
You had run out of fools
    But I was so wrong
You got one that you'll never lose
The way you treat me is a shame
How could you hurt me so bad
Baby, you know that I'm the best thing
    That you ever had

    Kiss me once again
Don'cha never, never say that we're through
    Cause I ain't never
Never, Never, no, no (loved a man)
(The way that I, I love you)

    I can't sleep at night
    And I can't eat a bite
I guess I'll never be free
Since you got, your hooks, in me

    Whoa, oh, oh
    Yeah! Yeah!
    I ain't never loved a man
    I ain't never loved a man, baby
Ain't never had a man that hurt me so bad

    No
Well this is what I'm gonna do about it...

Aretha Franklin - Ain't No Way
    Song written by Carolyn Franklin
    Album: Lady Soul (1968)

Ain't no way for me to love you
    If you won't let me
It ain't no way for me to give you all you need
If you won't let me give all of me

I know that a woman's duty is to help and love a man
And that's the way it was planned
Oh but how can I how can I how can I
Give you all the things I have
If you're tying both of my hands

    Oh it ain't no way
    It ain't no way
It just ain't no way baby
    Ain't no way baby
It ain't no way for me to love you
    If you won't let me

Stop trying to be someone you're not
    How come it's true there's a man
Who payed too much for what he got
And if you need me like you say you do
Oh then, then don't you know that I need you

    Oh, it ain't no way
I tell you that it ain't no way
It ain't no way, it ain't no way baby, no
    It just ain't no way
    It sho' ain't no way
It ain't no way for me to love you
    If you won't let me

No way, if you won't let me
    Ain't no way

Aretha, where would we be without her? Lady Soul brought fire and heat to pop music and without her groups like Labelle (Lady Marmalade) would have not be the household names they are today. She is singularly the greatest influential all around female vocalist of our time. By the late 1950's, she was already creating a buzz on the gospel circuit. Her father, the Reverend CL Franklin, was a talent in his own right, his fervent preaching having been recorded and released on two dozen LP's. She was signed to Columbia records in 1959 and they had no idea how to package her. Cloaked in jazz stylings for her first LP, The Great Aretha Franklin, it introduced her to the record buying public. Soon, however, she was mismatched with pop producers who tried to blanch her black soul. 1967 saw her being signed to Atlantic Records and paired with producer Jerry Wexler who launched her career into the stratosphere with the release of I Never Loved A Man (The Way That I Love You). She became a soul icon on both pop and R&B charts with songs like Respect, her first #1 hit. Producer Wexler used the propulsive sound he honed while working with Wilson Pickett and it was all music and fireworks after that. With success came marital problems, and Aretha suffered quietly as the Lady Of Mysterious Sorrows around the time of recording Young, Gifted & Black, but she left behind those shackles when she went into the studio. Rock Steady is a smouldering, chugging soul track groove that never lets up, written by Aretha herself. The songs Daydreaming, Angel and Rock Steady helped to make it a gold selling LP. Rock Steady is not disco by any stretch of the imagination, but I sure as hell would have been playing it at my club! This still gets a party going. Funk On!

    Aretha Franklin - I say a little prayer - Live HQ 1970

« I Say a Little Prayer is a song written by songwriters Burt Bacharach and Hal David for Dionne Warwick, originally peaking at number four on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 pop singles chart in December 1967.
I Say a Little Prayer also returned to the Pop & R&B Top Ten in the fall of 1968 via a recording by Aretha Franklin taken from her 1968 Aretha Now album; Franklin and her backup singers the Sweet Inspirations were singing the song for fun while rehearsing the songs intended for the album and the viability of Franklin actually recording I Say a Little Prayer became apparent. Franklin's version was intended as the B-side of the July 1968 single release The House that Jack Built but began to accrue its own airplay that August. »

« Aretha Louise Franklin (born March 25, 1942) is an American singer, songwriter, and pianist. Although known for her soul recordings and referred to as The Queen of Soul, Franklin is also adept at jazz, blues, R&B, gospel music, and rock. Rolling Stone magazine ranked her atop its list of The Greatest Singers of All Time as well as the ninth greatest artist of all time. She has won 18 competitive Grammys and two honorary Grammys. She has 20 No.1 singles on the Billboard R&B Singles Chart and two No.1 hits on the Billboard Hot 100: Respect (1967) and I Knew You Were Waiting (For Me) (1987), a duet with George Michael. Since 1961, she has scored a total of 45 Top 40 hits on the Billboard Hot 100. She also has the most million-selling singles (14) of any female artist. Between 1967 and 1982 she had 10 No.1 R&B albums—more than any other female artist. »

« Aretha Louise Franklin est une chanteuse américaine de gospel, soul-funk, rhythm and blues et jazz née le 25 mars 1942 à Memphis (mais elle passe la majorité de son enfance à Détroit dans le Michigan), surnommée « The Queen of soul » ou encore « Lady Soul ». »

    Lyrics:
Looking out on the morning rain
I used to feel so uninspired
And when I knew I had to face another day
Lord, it made me feel so tired
Before the day I met you
    Life was so unkind
And you're the key to my piece of mind
    'Cause you make me feel
    You make me feel
You make me feel like a natural woman
    (Woman)
When my soul was in the lost and found
You came along to claim it
I didn't know just what was wrong with me
Till your kiss helped me name it
Now I'm no longer doubtful of what I'm living for
And if I make you happy, I don't need to do more
    'Cause you make me feel
    You make me feel
You make me feel like a natural woman
    (Woman)
Oh baby, what you've done to me (What you've done to me)
You made me feel so good inside (Good inside)
And I just wanna be (Wanna be)
Close to you, you make me feel so alive
    You make me feel
    You make me feel
You make me feel like a natural woman
    (Woman)
    You make me feel
    You make me feel
You make me feel like a natural woman

  • Aretha Franklin - Get It Right

    6:28

Get It Right is a soulful boogie song written by Luther Vandross and Marcus Miller which was an R&B hit for Aretha Franklin in 1983. Released from the album of the same title, it reached number one on the Hot Soul Singles chart in August 1983 and peaked at number 61 on the Billboard Hot 100. The single reached number nine on the Hot Dance Club Play chart and number 74 on the UK Singles Chart.

Aretha Louise Franklin (March 25, 1942 – August 16, 2018) was an American singer and songwriter. Franklin began her career as a child singing gospel at New Bethel Baptist Church in Detroit, where her father, C. L. Franklin, was minister. In 1960, at the age of 18, she embarked on a secular career, recording for Columbia Records but only achieving modest success. By the end of the 1960s she had gained the title The Queen of Soul.

On August 13, 2018, Franklin was reported to be gravely ill at her home near Detroit. She was reported to be under hospice care and surrounded by friends and family. Stevie Wonder and Jesse Jackson, among others, had visited her. Franklin died at home in Detroit on August 16, aged 76. The cause was reported to be advanced pancreatic cancer.

Alright gang let's start from number one
Let's throw down till it's done

Let's get this thing to workin'
    There's no reason to wait
The time is now to start
We all could use the change

Hey, from right now till the dawn
    We gonna really carry on
    We won't stop
Not until we get it right

Out to be on the one
It's not over till is done
    It's gonna be so good
    When we get it right

Got to be willing to try
Even if we get up early
    And we work over time
Do it till you get it right

    It's an incredible high
There's no limit to what's in it
    It's your's and mine
So let's do it till we get it, get it right

Till we get it (Make it shout, toss it, turn you inside out), ho...oh...
Do it till we get it (Stay with it and get it right)
Do it till we get it (Never stop, we could take it to the top), oh...oh...
Do it till we get it (Take the time, get it right)

I know just how to do it
    To make it really nice
    There's no mystery to it
Here's how you get it right

Well, you make it scream, you make it shout
Toss it, turn it inside out
    Never quit, stay with it
    And get it right

    Don't give up, never stop
We can take it to the top
If we just take the time
    To get it right

    Oh...oh...don't give up now
We can make it, we can take it
    Right to the top
    Hey...ey...and never stop

Honey, let's reach for the sky
    If we keep believin'
We can never go to high
Yeah, let's give it a try

Come on let's keep reaching up
    Believe if it lasts forever
    It's never too much
    No way to get enough

Do it till we get it right
Even if it takes from mornin'
    Till way into night
We've got do it till we get it, get it right

Till we get it (Make it shout, toss it, turn it inside out), oh...
Do it till we get it (Stay with it and get it right)
Do it till we get it (Never stop, we could take it to the top), hey...
Do it till we get it (Take the time get it right)

Do it till we (Get it), get it right, do it
Do it till we get it (Get it) get it (Get it right) and get it right
Do it till we (Get it) get it, baby, yeah, yeah

Do it till we (Get it) ow, get it, baby
Do it till we (Get it), get it (Get it right) and get it right

Till you get it, l you get it (Get it) get it (Get it right) and get it right
Do it till you (Get it) get it, get it
Do it till you (Get it right)

    (Repeat)

    If we keep believin'
We could never go to high
Yeah, let's give it a try

Come on let's keep reachin' up
