    Here are some patch notes:
    ----------------------------------------
    - I'm recording to the different buffers of Arbhar using its internal contact mic, and Arbhar is going through the Mimeophon.
    - I'm sending the trigger output of Arbhar to trigger the Mimeophon so there's a change in the Mimeophon's clock rate.
    - The trigger output of the Mimeophon is triggering its Flip function, and I'm also splitting the EOSG of the Morphagene once to trigger the Hold function of the Mimeophon, and once to trigger the grains on the Microcell.
    - I'm also sending S&H from VCV Rack to modulate the Zone and Rate of the Mimeophon.
    - With the Keystep, I'm playing chords from a voice in VCV Rack, which is going through Chronoblob 2 and reverb.
    - I have my Zoom recorder connected to the Morphagene, and with it I'm recording my flute.
    - The Morphagene is going to the Microcell in granular mode, and its CV output is modulating the grain size so the louder the sample, the bigger the grain size.
    - I'm sending S&H from VCV Rack to modulate the Gene Size and Slide, and I'm sending another S&H from VCV Rack to trigger the Hold function of the Microcell.
    - I have another voice in VCV Rack, this arp, that I'm playing also with the Keystep, but on a different Midi channel, and I'm controlling its level with the VCMC.
    - After recording to all 6 buffers on Arbhar, I'm switching to the Omega position and another S&H from VCV Rack is scanning through the buffers.
    - All of the S&H modules in VCV Rack are being triggered by random triggers.

You can get VCV Rack here -

    1:47:26

arbhar heralds a new generation of granular processing in eurorack. Sampled audio can be chopped into tiny grains, scattered, shaped, re-pitched, reversed and layered for an endless range of audio manipulation from seamless frozen tones to mutated acousmatic madness.

Featuring a condenser microphone set into the front panel, built in audio analysis for automatic sampling and internal modulation over various parameters; this is truly a granulator like no other.

  • Instruo arbhar // exploring Eurorack granular processing with guitar

    7:18

Here's a quick exploration with the Instruo arbhar Eurorack module. I played a simple guitar part (Dsus2 / G, Dsus2 / F# and Dsus2 / B for those curious) into this recorded as one of the buffered saved on the module then manually played around with spray (randomising grain playback position) granular loop lengths, intensity (amount of grains seeded) and some pitch shifting. There's random reverse playback and random panning of the grains in the granular processing and it's just a lovely tool for smearing, spreading and spraying grains of audio. Full demo soon. This was filmed some time back with older firmware, you have some new features on the release version.

  • Arbhar Follow Mode 01 12 20

    9:59

Arbhar Follow Mode for time stretching layers:
The default setting of the Scan knob is to manually Scan through the position of the playhead in the chosen layer. By setting the Arbhar into Follow Mode, the Scan knob now controls the rate of the playhead's playback independent of pitch. This creates some really nice time stretching effects of the chosen layer's audio buffer.
In this video, note that layers 1 and 4 contain sounds from the Radio Music module's own sound library. Many thanks to Tom Whitwell and Music Thing Modular for this unique sound library. The other buffers (2, 3, 5 & 6) contain sounds from my personal audio library. I did record audio into the Arbhar's 6 layers from the Radio Music module.
The Arbhar's audio is routed to Aum (iPad Air2), via a Roland 531 mixer patched into a Focusrite 6i6. In Aum, audio is processed by Reamp & BlackHole.
Thanks for listening and watching! And I'm hoping that you listened via headphones or earbuds. IMHO, there's not much point to listening to music on a mobile device's, or a laptop's built-in speakers.

    3:28

The Qu-Bit Bloom is the core of this patch, sequencing the Ts-L and provide the gates to trigger Plaits, which is in kick drum mode. Mutable Instruments Stages is sending an Attack-Decay signal to a Doepfer vca to shape the notes. An LFO from Stages is also controlling the wave folding of the Instruo, creating a filter sweep effect. Tides is modulating Plaits, and is itself modulated by Stages. The Plaits kick is fed into Clouds (uburst) to give it some explosive ambience. Output module is a Make Noise XOH.

    Here are some patch notes:
    ------------------------------------------------
    - I've recorded Lekko and Janso from Felt Instruments into the Morphagene, Arbhar, Microcell, Mimeophon, and Magneto.
    - The Morphagene is playing the recording back at half speed.
    - Arbhar has pitch modulation on the playback so it plays it in jumps of octaves.
    - Magneto is on Looper mode but also set to Shift mode so there's a change in pitch as well.
    - Mimeophon is also looping the recording, but I mangled it a bit so there are hiccups in the sound every now and then.
    - Microcell is set to Granular mode and I have the Noise Tools module modulating its position.
    - I'm sending the flute first to LedRover from VoicAS for some extra warmth and crunch.
    - The picture is of me with my father, and we used to drink Campari a lot together so that's this red liquid in the glasses.

  • Eurorack Tape Looper Lubadh from Instruo // Superbooth 2019

    8:34

Expecting nothing less from the team at Instruo they've delivered lots of great new Eurorack modules for Superbooth 2019. Lubadh (or Lúbadh to precise) is a dual tape looper module that has two reels to record to, scrub, loop, modulate, play in reverse, re-pitch and more. The emulation and inspiration of Nagra tape machines doesn't end with the looping as the input stages offer analogue emulations of the sound of tape with soft clipping, filtering and asymmetrical saturation. You can also sound on sound loop and derive various clock divisions / multiplications per loop to sync a whole system.

Here's my very first patch (filmed some time ago) with the fantastic Harmonaig and Troika from Instruo. Harmonaig is a quantizer and four voice chord generator with lots of options for custom scales, chord types, diatonic and modal harmony and modulation of inversion and chord spacing (drop chords). Troika is a saw core triple oscillator with on board mixing, so a perfect pairing for the Harmonaig.

The module can save chord tones and sequence between them with external clocks and CV. Really simple interface, beautiful, easy to see clock like dials show what each note/voice is playing too. There's also a prototype Philips Hue interface that takes Eurorack CV signals to control the Hue protocol. This is just basic colour hue and brightness on the prototype but Rune is developing an interface with much more CV input and an app to integrate that ... just imagine a totally CV controlled home, the family would love it!

  • Øchd: Overview and Demo

    6:42

Welcome to the Patchwerks video series! In this inaugural video of our series, our resident expert Matthew Piecora (aka EZBOT) demos the amazingly simple and musically powerful features from the new DivKid module øchd. Remember to like and subscribe, because we'll have more videos of great gear coming your way soon.

    From DivKid:
This collaboration between DivKid and Instruo is a 4HP all analogue triangle LFO generator with 8 outputs. Each of the 8 outputs are free running and are musically tuned intervals, as opposed to synced or variable phase outputs from each other. A range of fast to slow outputs can be set to make any patch drift organically and beautifully, letting your modulation freely drift various parameters. There's a global rate control to go up into either lower audio rates on the fastest outputs, or glacially slow. A CV input with attenuverter allows for waveshaping via feedback patching, everything from log, lin or expo curves through to odd staircases waves and more. A negative voltage can reliably halt the circuit which gives 8 track and holds over the outputs.

  • Announcement NEW DIVKID EURORACK MODULE // Meet ochd made with Instruo

    8:09

Hello hello, here's my second eurorack module øchd or ochd. It's pronounced oct as in octave or octuplet and as if by magic there's eight outputs on this module, an octuplet of analogue LFOs if you will. I often find I need more modulation, simple sources that will keep things moving and stop things getting repetitive. That’s why ochd was brought to life, to keep patches organically drifting and moving… and as it’s modular, we wanted an intuitive easy to use module with plenty of patchable tricks up it’s sleeves too!

ochd is a 4HP Eurorack module with eight analogue triangle LFOs. The outputs go from fast on the top output to slow on the bottom output. The default ranges are deliberate NOT synced. These are free running LFOs that were tuned by ear to be musical useful for a range of fast to slow modulations in a patch. Organic animation, drifting and musical phasing is the intention of the module. The rate control controls the rate of all LFOs globally and takes this into lower audio rates right down to 25 minute cycles on the lowest output. This can be extended even slower with CV, with the CV input and attenuverter on board and we can also track and hold the outputs with a negative CV, interrupting and holding modulation values with external gates of CVs. Another trick to take this from simple triangle shapes is to patch a spare output into the CV input and wave shape with feedback. Exponential curves, odd squares, stepped waveforms and more are available with some adjustment of the attenuverter and using different outputs to voltage control itself.

While patching a prototype at DivKid HQ Richard Devine said this was the most organic little modulator ever - lovely stuff!

This module is made in collaboration with Instruo and I'm very proud to be part of their amazing line up of modules.

  • Instruo workshop at SchneidersLaden

    59:52

Jason Lim from Instruo came to SchneidersLaden to introduce himself and his instruments to our guests. After his short performance he talks us through the patch he was playing. Take a close look at what Jason brought with him, there are some brand new designs in his case - including an ADSR - Cèis, a loop sampler - Lùbadh*, a granular sampler Arbhar, filter, utilities and more!

We are impressed of the whole product line and the passion Jason puts into his work. And we can't wait to try all the new modules again! Next chance to see them will be at SUPERBOOTH19 - 9-11 May at FEZ Berlin. See you there!

*Jason wrote us after the workshop to give us the correct time and quality numbers for the Lùbadh, so here they are: Each looper side will have 6.5 minutes of record time each at 96K/24Bit.

  • Instruo Lubadh

    2:54

This is a patch built with the lubadh in mind. The previous video was whatever I had patched at the time, fed in to see what I could get out of it.
This module is really cool, I’m having a lot of fun using it!

  • Arbhar: Radio Re-Synthesis with Parat+ gestural modulations

    4:05

A little sonic background: I've been going through my sound library and editing sounds destined to be granulized by the Arbhar. The go between is the Music Thing Modular Radio Music Module. I guess it's very fitting that I found these sound files that I had recorded some years ago whilst scanning the airwaves with an analog tuner.

For my first 2 Arbhar videos I simply investigated the module's UI. And a beautful UI it is! Now I'm modulating the Arbhar with my favorite modulation source, Parat+ (via Instruo Aither modules over WiFi). Sure, I can go on and on, but for the sake of brevity I'll simply say that I'm really, really happy with both the Arbhar and Parat+!!!

The audio chain is Arbhar stereo outs to Roland 531, then fed into Aum on an iPad Air2 via a Focusrite 6i6. Processing in Aum by Reamp and Blackhole Reverb.

    Thanks for watching and listening!!!

  • Winter Morning Ambient. ~ Eurorack Modular Synth.

    5:24

    Patch Notes.

There are two voices from the Instruo CS-L with random quantised pitch control coming from Ornament and Crime. The voices are mixed through Make Noise Optomix and then pass through the WMD MMF filter. Levels of Optomix are controlled by two channels of Make Noise maths which are triggered randomly by Temps Utile. Modulation of the MMF is done with Maths and the Ginko Synthese TTLFOv2 which is itself being modulated by the Rob Hordijk Benjolin. Sub bass from the CS-L is fed through the multiply VCA on the CS-L and the level is controlled with a triangle LFO from the Benjolin. This is the mixed to the aux input of Optomix. The whole patch is fed through Mutable Instruments Clouds to add granular delay and reverb. Clouds grain size is modulated by the Benjloin. Further reverb was added on the mixing desk.

Please like and subscribe to see more in the future.

  • First Try with Instruo Harmonàig - Ambient Melodies

    5:16

This was my very first try/ patch with the Instruo Harmonàig. Patch notes below.

    Patch Notes:
Troika: Mix out as main voice summed into Clouds,
Bubblesound VCO into Doepfer A-106-6 Expander Filter for solo voice.
Harmonàig providing CV for Troika and Bubblesound, receiving CV from Tirana for chord selection on preselected notes/ steps in quantize mode, modulation on Inversion and Voicing from Quadra, also modulating Clouds.
Tirana clocked by Quad Clock Distributor,
Quadra partly running in LFO mode.

Best listened to with decent headphones or good audio equipment.

  • Superbooth 2018 - Instruo Loads Of New Stuff!!!

    13:46

Jason from Instruo takes us through new modules, existing modules, retrofit black panels and a few things you might have seen around but not much of as they've been building custom orders and short hand made runs for a while. The range of oscillators is fantastic with the triple VCO, single saw core with softer folder, triangle core with linear FM, sub and more unique waveforms and the new mega analogue playground Cs-L that looks like a fantastic pushing of the boundaries set by west coast dual complex oscillators. The modules I have from Instruo are fantastic, I'll have full demo videos with those soon but enjoy this run down for now and get in with Instruo if you're after anything.

  • A trio of wavefolding Instruo VCOs || 2x Ts-L and 1x Tona + Harmonaig for good measure!

    5:23

Here's a lovely trio of wave folding oscillators from Instruo. I have 2 of the new Ts-L 6HP feature packed oscillators and the softer (in terms of it's wave folder sound) Tona. These are great analogue oscillator designs which I'll be covering in their own more in depth videos coming soon. I'm also using the Harmonaig to keep things musical, in key and generating harmonies based on a single sequence coming in.

  • Mutes - the first DivKid Eurorack module

    9:23

**TIMING INDEX / SECTIONS BELOW** So here we have it, the FIRST DivKid Eurorack module. It's been a long journey (and and on / off casual one to start with) since I first drew up a rough idea and panel design for this years back but this super simple, but highly effective little module (if I do say so myself) is finally released! Now I'm not a circuit designer or manufacturer, which is why this took some time. But more recently I worked with Befaco to bring this to life so I'm proud to say that although this is a DivKid module the PCBs say powered by Befaco on them. There's tonnes of potential ways to patch and make use of this and nothing will make me happier than to see the module living in peoples systems for a long time. This is available as a DIY kit or PCB/panel as well as assembled. Check the link below for more information.

**CORRECTION** This is available as a FULL DIY KIT or PCB/Panel combo not a partial kit as I say at the end of the video.

  • 2hp - Pluck

    13:35

It's immediately obvious within the first plucked note that the new 2hp Pluck sounds good. It's a physical modelling synth voice in a 2hp eurorack module. The module uses a karplus strong algorithm to model plucked strings. You can control the dampening which works like a tonal shift similar to what you'd get from adjusting the length of a string and also the decay which takes it from tight snappy transients through to sustained infinite harp like tones.

Once I go through the features and core sound I get into freezing the 4 polyphonic voices, sequencing 1 voice over 3 held voices, filtering and external processing to create new tones / movement and then using it as a percussion source and in a larger full track/patch.

This is also the start of a new series #2hpTuesdays where I'll be bringing you a video on the 2hp series of modules each Tuesday. Enjoy!

  • ALM Busy Circuits Squid Salmple // Fast & powerful 8 channel audio and CV sampler in Eurorack

    38:05

**TIMING INDEX // SECTIONS BELOW** So here's the Squid Salmple from ALM Busy Circuits. It's an 8 channel Eurorack sampler that can record, mangle, modulate and playback audio or CV. It's fast and immediate with quick on the fly recording options and an easy interface that very quickly became a fast and intuitive way to work with both audio and CV. There's a phenomenal bank of samples that comes with it on the USB stick that's really well put together from a range of artists and sources. You've got 5 outputs, 3 assignable (to multiple destinations) CV inputs, 8 trigger inputs and plenty of control and options. I'd love to hear what you think about the module and the video so leave a comment and let's chat. Skip around with the timing index below if you see fit and cheers for watching!
