  • Lo Ballo del Intorcia - Antonio Valente.

    2:55

ntonio Valente (fl. 1565--80) was an Italian Renaissance organist and composer. He was blind from childhood and served as organist of Sant'Angelo a Nilo in Naples in 1565--80. During that time he published two collections of organ music: Intavolatura de cimbalo (1 fantasia, 6 ricercares, Salve regina, 3 intabulations, 6 sets of variations, and 3 dances; 1575) and Versi spirituali (43 versets; 1580). Nothing else is known about his life. In 1601 he was listed among the deceased organists of Naples.
Valente's second collection is historically important as one of the earliest instances of liturgical music free from any ties with the chant. Versi spirituali provides a wealth of diverse, freely composed pieces that cover the entire liturgy—the Mass and the Daily Offices. Valente's 1575 print, although of considerably lower quality, is also a major landmark in the history of Italian keyboard music, for together with Rocco Rodio's Libro di ricercate (1575) it constitutes the earliest work of the so-called Neapolitan school, which later produced composers such as Ascanio Mayone and Giovanni Maria Trabaci.

Musique: Performer Asthor Moista, La France.

  • Antonio Valente - Gagliarda napoletana

    4:23

Antonio Valente (1520 circa -- Napoli, 1601).

  • Antonio Valente: Lo Ballo dellIntorcia

    1:42

A lively piece by Italian composer Antonio Valente (ca. 1520-1581).
This is one of the organs that I play as an organist. It is in the pilgrimage church in Maria Limbach in Lower Franconia, not far from Bamberg. The organ was built in 1756 by the famous Franconian organ builder Johann Philipp Seuffert (1693-1780) from Würzburg and is still basically intact. The church is no less famous, it was designed by Balthasar Neumann.
The stops I use here are: Prinzipal 8, Copel 8 (like a stopped diapason), Octav 4 and Decima Quinta 2/3 (a bit like a mixture with a very pronounced quint sound; typical of southern German baroque organs).

This week we have an Italian artist quickly climbing the ranks in the Techno scene recently, thanks to his win in the Jägermeister European contest, and a following appearance at Movement festival in Turin, Italy. We are sure you will like the exclusive set he recorded for us, so please don’t forget to show us your support with likes, comments, and shares on our Soundcloud and Mixcloud pages!

    -
Florentine, class of 1983, Antonio’s debut in the world of electronic music starts at the end of the ‘90s inspired by the Italian and European techno sounds of that period that stimolates him in beginning a career in djing. In 2001 his inclination in music changes when he buys his first drum-machine, a Roland tr-909. Driven by the disire to create a new sound after listening to tunes that inspired him, completly self-taught, he commences to produce music on his own.
His great passion for synth and drum machines, like the Roland tr-909, tr-808, Roland Bassline tb-303, Roland sh-101, Korg ms-20 and Prophet V which he has collected over time, allows him to use these machines, including vinyls, during his live sets from 2003 to 2007 for complex performances. His fervant activity, followed by many fans, can be found constantly updated on mixcloud with new mixes every two months. On his channel you can listen to podcasts of the best music of the moment and Acid Morning Sessions which are unique mixes of its genre where the Florentine producer puts together his musical passion from deep to sperimental techno creating a two hour live set for each session with vocals from movie sections, which are very hypnotic and as we already said “acid”.
    -
His first track called Pingo Pongo, came out in 2008 with the French label Automat X Records patronized by Laurent Garnier who supports Antonio like another talented dj of the same caliber of Paul Ritch. Meanwhile Antonio continues to do his gigs and to animate the dancefloors of the best clubs in Florence defining his style and remaning faithful to the german-italian techno, implementing his style with deeper sounds leading him to play detroit techno music.
    -
2013 is the year of his big turn out: Titano is published on “The Triangle Records” and that same year one of the fathers of techno music Adam Beyer plays his track nonetheless at the Awakenings festival. In the same period Technasia wants to sign him up on Sino, label owned by Technasia and one of the most forefront techno labels of the last period that launched talents like: Joris Voorn, Dosem, Renato Cohen and many others, where Antonio’s single “Mandrake” was published as the only single produced by an Italian on Sino. At the end of 2014 Pendolum is released on the Italian label Riot owned by the taleted pruducer Frankyeffe. A track made by Antonio on Reload Records, a well known Spanish label owned by Yellow Heads is expected to be released in 2015. This will ampliate his contacts throughout the international seen and will enrich the production of new vinyls.
Antonio’s production activity is fruitful, he publishes on Italian and international labels like: Gem Records owned by Secret Cinemas, Francesco Farfa’s Audio Esperanto, Raul Mescolanza’s Fun Kids Records, Dandy and Hugo’s Italo Business and Lapsus Music owned by his fellow citizens Supernova.
His latest work was done in collaboration with Rikha, one of the most prominent figures of Farfasound Entertainment. Together they composed “Rikhant” a track wich can be found in Moving Ep (Binary 404). This track is frequently played by techno god Riche Hawtin, Secret Cinema and Thomas Schumacher.
    -
Always looking for new collaborations and experimentations, Antonio is projected in the world of eletronic music as a real professionist. More and more clubs want to sign him up for his sets and above all the public is always involved and thrilled for his breathtaking gigs which make clubbers dance to his vibes thanks to the passion, the talent and the energy he puts in each and every set.
