    E-o muzică de toamnă,
    Cu glas de piculină,
    Cu note dulci de flaut,
    Cu ton de violină...

    Și-acorduri de clavire,
    Pierdute, în surdină;
    Și-n tot e-un marș funebru
    Prin noapte, ce suspină...
    ...............

    Ce tristă operă cânta
    Fanfara militară
    Târziu în noapte, la grădină
    Și tot orașul întrista
    Fanfara militară.

    Plângeam și rătăceam pe stradă
    În noaptea vastă și senină
    Și-atât de goală era strada
    De-amanți grădina era plină
    Orașul luminat electric
    Dădea fiori de nebunie...
    Era o noapte de septembrie
    Atât de rece și pustie

    Și tot orașul întrista
    Fanfara militară...
    Târziu în noapte, la grădină
    Ce tristă operă cânta
    Fanfara militară!

    MUSIQUE D’AUTOMNE

    L’automne est là qui chante
    Avec ses douces lyres
    Ses jeux de flageolets,
    Ses flûtes qui chavirent,

    Et ses accords de timbres
    S’éteignent, se déchirent,
    Et tout est chant funèbre
    Dans l’ombre qui soupire.

    LA FANFARE

    Qu’il était triste l’opéra
    Joué par la fanfare !
    Très tard dans l’ombre
    Du parc sombre….
    Le bourg souffrait,
    Maussade et las,
    Aux sons de la fanfare.

J’errais, pleurant, le long des rues
Dans la nuit froide ma détresse
Déserte et vide était la rue
Et le jardin, plein de caresses.

    Du bourg aux flammes électriques
    Naissaient de folles épouvantes…
    Nuit de septembre nostalgique
Si froide et morne, déchirante !

Le bourg souffrait, maussade et las,
    Aux sons de la fanfare.
    Très tard dans l’ombre
    Du parc sombre….

  • Anatol Vieru - ODE TO SILENCE - Corneliu Dumbraveanu conductor

    17:26

Anatol Vieru - ODE TO SILENCE (Symphony n°1, 1966-1967)
Anatol Vieru - ODĂ TĂCERII (Simfonia I, 1966-1967)
Anatol Vieru - ODE AU SILENCE (Symphonie n° 1, 1966-67)
This performance by Corneliu Dumbraveanu has been published by the German label Troubadisc. Here is an excerpt of the French version of the booklet.

    ODE AU SILENCE (Symphonie n°1)

    Neantul face glume
    Fiind un demon haihui.
    Ce este această lume?

    Te-ntreb unde e anul
    Când prin salon jucai
    Sau răscoleai brusc pianul
Ca pe un stol de cai?
    Te-ntreb unde e anul!

    Am în acest album
    Un fir de-aur curat,
Din părul tău – un fum
    De mult evaporat –
    Am în acest album.

    Consult toţi filozofii,
    Pe Platon şi Socrate,
    Să ştiu dacă pantofii
    Sunt semn c-ai existat.
    Consult toţi filozofii.

    În scrin am o batistă
    C-un monogram rotund.
    La teza agnosticistă
    Cu ea-ncerc să răspund.
    În scrin am o batistă.

    Când totul se usucă,
    Şi ochii amăgesc,
    Că n-ai fost o nălucă
    Nu pot să dovedesc.
    Când totul se usucă...

  • Anatol Vieru - Symphony No 5 for Chorus and Orchestra, IV. Glossă

    8:39

Anatol Vieru - Symphony No 5 for Chorus and Orchestra (1985),
    IV. Glossă ( The Gloss)
Romanian Radio Symphony Orchestra conducted by Ludovic Baci

    „Gloss” by Mihai Eminescu

Days go past, and days come still,
All is old and all is new,
What is well and what is ill,
    You imagine and construe
Do not hope and do not fear,
    Waves that leap like waves must fall;
Should they praise or should they jeer,
Look but coldly on it all.

Things you'll meet of many a kind,
Sights and sounds, and tales no end,
But to keep them all in mind
    Who would bother to attend?...
    Very little does it matter,
    If you can yourself fulfil,
    That with idle, empty chatter
Days go past and days come still.

    Little heed the lofty ranging
    That cold logic does display
    To explain the endless changing
    Of this pageantry of joy,
And which out of death is growing
    But to last an hour or two;
    For the mind profoundly knowing
All is old and all is new.

As before some troupe of actors,
    You before the world remain;
    Act they Gods, or malefactors,
'Tis but they dressed up again.
And their loving and their slaying,
    Sit apart and watch, until
You will see behind their playing
What is well and what is ill.

What has been and what to be
Are but of a page each part
Which the world to read is free.
Yet who knows them off by heart?
All that was and is to come
    Prospers in the present too,
    But its narrow modicum
    You imagine and construe.

With the selfsame scales and gauges
    This great universe to weigh,
Man has been for thousand ages
    Sometimes sad and sometimes gay;
Other masks, the same old story,
    Players pass and reappear,
    Broken promises of glory;
Do not hope and do not fear.

Do not hope when greed is staring
O'er the bridge that luck has flung,
These are fools for not despairing,
    On their brows though stars are hung;
Do not fear if one or other
    Does his comrades deep enthral,
Do not let him call you brother,
Waves that leap like waves must fall.

    Like the sirens' silver singing
Men spread nets to catch their prey,
Up and down the curtain swinging
    Midst a whirlwind of display.
    Leave them room without resistance,
    Nor their commentaries cheer,
    Hearing only from a distance,
Should they praise or should they jeer.

If they touch you, do not tarry,
Should they curse you, hold your tongue,
    All your counsel must miscarry
    Knowing who you are among.
Let them muse and let them mingle,
    Let them pass both great and small;
    Unattached and calm and single,
Look but coldly on it all.

Look but coldly on it all,
    Should they praise or should they jeer;
Waves that leap like waves must fall,
Do not hope and do not fear.
    You imagine and construe
    What is well and what is ill;
All is old and all is new,
Days go past and days come still.

    entra en el corazón,
    como la reja del arado
    en el yermo.

    No.
    No me lo claves.
    No.

    El puñal,
    como un rayo de sol,
    incendia las terribles
    hondonadas.

    No.
    No me lo claves.
    No.

    ***

    SORPRESA

Muerto se quedó en la calle
con un puñal en el pecho.
    No lo conocía nadie.

    ¡Cómo temblaba el farol!
    Madre.
    ¡Cómo temblaba el farolito
    de la calle!

    Era madrugada. Nadie
    pudo asomarse a sus ojos
    abiertos al duro aire.

Que muerto se quedó en la calle
que con un puñal en el pecho
y que no lo conocía nadie.

    ***

    CAMPANA

    En la torre
    amarilla,
    dobla una campana.

    Sobre el viento
    amarillo,
    se abren las campanadas.

    En la torre
    amarilla,
    cesa la campana.

    El viento con el polvo,
    hace proras de plata.

    E-o muzică de toamnă,
    Cu glas de piculină,
    Cu note dulci de flaut,
    Cu ton de violină...

    Și-acorduri de clavire,
    Pierdute, în surdină;
    Și-n tot e-un marș funebru
    Prin noapte, ce suspină...
    ...............

    Ce tristă operă cânta
    Fanfara militară
    Târziu în noapte, la grădină
    Și tot orașul întrista
    Fanfara militară.

    Plângeam și rătăceam pe stradă
    În noaptea vastă și senină
    Și-atât de goală era strada
    De-amanți grădina era plină
    Orașul luminat electric
    Dădea fiori de nebunie...
    Era o noapte de septembrie
    Atât de rece și pustie

    Și tot orașul întrista
    Fanfara militară...
    Târziu în noapte, la grădină
    Ce tristă operă cânta
    Fanfara militară!

    GEORGE BACOVIA

    MUSIQUE D’AUTOMNE

    L’automne est là qui chante
    Avec ses douces lyres
    Ses jeux de flageolets,
    Ses flûtes qui chavirent,

    Et ses accords de timbres
    S’éteignent, se déchirent,
    Et tout est chant funèbre
    Dans l’ombre qui soupire.

    LA FANFARE

    Qu’il était triste l’opéra
    Joué par la fanfare !
    Très tard dans l’ombre
    Du parc sombre….
    Le bourg souffrait,
    Maussade et las,
    Aux sons de la fanfare.

J’errais, pleurant, le long des rues
Dans la nuit froide ma détresse
Déserte et vide était la rue
Et le jardin, plein de caresses.

    Du bourg aux flammes électriques
    Naissaient de folles épouvantes…
    Nuit de septembre nostalgique
Si froide et morne, déchirante !

Le bourg souffrait, maussade et las,
    Aux sons de la fanfare.
    Très tard dans l’ombre
    Du parc sombre….
    Qu’il était triste l’opéra
    Joué par la fanfare !

Anatol Vieru - Le Festin des gueux - Das Gastmahl der Schmarotzer
Anatol Vieru - Praznicul calicilor [The Feast of the Beggars] - Dar fetele sărmane (după piesa lui Mihail Sorbul)

    The microtonal blues scene: 1:43
Auzi cum latr-afară cea haită de potăi?
Calicu-i ca un câine ce n-are stăpânire
eu nu pricep un lucru ce năzuire
    Drăculea urmărește c-un praznic?
Nu pricepi? Prea mult norod urcat-a
    chiar fără vină-n țepi
    s-a-nfricoșat și dânsul
    de ce-a făcut. E vreme
    În toate când firea-i buclucașă

    Of! Dar câte, câte știu!
Gândindu-mă la ele mă mir că mai sunt viu!
Drăculea nu gândește la cel atotputernic
    nici nu e pravoslavnic
    Nu poate un cucernic creștin
să săvârșească o faptă de păgân
Nu-l stăpânește Domnul ci dracul i-e stăpân
Pomenilor acestea o să le meargă vestea departe hăt !
Ducând cu ele-o groază de crunte arătări.
