Renaissance de la Harpe Celtique or Renaissance of the Celtic Harp is a 1972 record album by the Breton master of the Celtic harp Alan Stivell that revolutionised the connection between traditional folk music, modern rock music and world music

The release of this album with its fusion of classical, traditional folk and rock music, its mixture of instruments (cello, harp, electric guitar, traditional and modern drums) and its evocation of a utopian atmosphere and vision of humans in harmony with nature, immediately set it as a benchmark in the Celtic music revival of the 1970s

    noi apriremo i nostri cuori
di contadini, di marinai e di pescatori a tutti i popoli
    del pianeta Terra
e offriremo i nostri occhi al Mondo:
    e' presunzione crederci uguali?
    i cosiddetti potenti,

Simple Minds & Alan Stivell performing the irish traditional folk song She Moves Through The Fair Live August 1995 in Paris, France. Alan Stivell released the album Brian Boru the same year. The Simple Minds song Belfast Child used this melody and a similar arrangement. Simple Minds also recorded a version of She moves through the fair for the Billy Sloan session of 2002.

Please note: Partly a re-upload. Nearly 2 years ago I uploaded the audio (only) to this performance.

    Lyrics:-
My young love said to me,
    My mother won't mind,
And my father won't slight you,
    For your lack of kind.
Then, she stepped away from me,
    And this she did say:
It will not be long love,
    'Til our wedding day.

    She stepped away from me,
And she moved through the fair,
    And fondly I watched her,
    Move here and move there.
Then she made her way homeward,
    With one star awake,
As the swan in the evening,
    Moves over the lake.

    I dreamt it last night,
That my dead love came in,
    So softly she moved,
That her feet made no din.
Then she came close beside me,
    And this she did say:
It will not be long love,
    'Til our wedding day.

  • Alan Stivell An alarch / Le cygne de Montfort - brezhoneg / français / english

    2:05

During the succession war of Brittany, duke Jean IV of Montfort, said Jean le Conquéreur (1339-1399 ), ally of the british against his opponent Charles de Blois, had been chased away by the king of France Charles V, friend of de Blois, and by the Breton chiefs who disliked the british influence. But, when Charles V tried to annex Britanny to France after the death of de Blois in spite of the rights of Montfort, all the Bretons asked for his comeback : and so, on August 3rd, 1379, he landed to Dinard to reclaim the throne of Brittany.

Today the song is a symbol of the Breton independence.

PS: pictures are not all about Jean of Monfort but they were choosed in order to give a credible illustration of the song

Three sailors in Breton is a traditional Breton song which dates to the 18th century in lower Britanny. it was made famous by the interpretation, the arrangement and the recordings made by the Breton harpist Alan Stivell, in the 1970's. The lytics tell the story of three young sailors who embark for Newfoundland and the history quickly settles into a romantic dialogue.
I am singing the version of Nolwenn Leroy.
I'm so sorry if I didn't get the prononciation. :) but I must say that it's a beautiful song - love it!
