  • Amanda Lear - Fashion Pack

    4:55

Real Name: Amanda Tapp (or Tap)

French model, singer, lyricist, TV host, actress and painter.
Contested facts about her biography include her birth date (cited as 18 November 1939, also 1941, 1946, 1948 and 1950) and place (Hong Kong, Saigon or Hanoi), the gender she was assigned at birth, names and nationalities of her parents (French-English father and an Asian-Russian mother), and the location of her upbringing.
She was raised in the South of France and moved to Paris to make a career in painting. She became a top model, a fixture of the mid 1960s Swinging London and one of Salvador Dalí's muses, who's said to have coined her stage name / public persona (L'Amant de Dalí - Dalí's lover).
She later posed as the lady with the panther in 1973 on the famous cover of Roxy Music - For Your Pleasure. After a brief affair, David Bowie advised her to try her luck as a singer. From the mid-1970s to the early 1980s, she was a million-album-selling disco queen, mainly in Continental Europe and Scandinavia, sometime referencing the allegations about her transgender identity in her songs Fabulous (Lover, Love Me), If I was a Boy or I'm a Mistery (deliberately misspelled as to reference the word mister).
Since the early '80s she has presented TV shows in Italy, France and Germany and is a theater actress.

Amanda Lear - Follow Me 1978

    I'm getting out
    I'm moving on
    And from now on
    address unknown
I should be difficult to find
    So follow me
    just follow me.

I'll sell you dreams and new desires
    I'm trading hopes
    I'm opened late
    I am the night
    I am your fate
    So follow me
    just follow me.

    Faust was right
    have no regret
    Gimme your soul
    I'll give you life
And all the things you want to get
    So follow me
    just follow me.

    I'll give you wings
    I'll sell you fame
    Merry-go-round
    maybe to hell
I am the key to your problem
    So follow me
    just follow me.

    Unbelievable maybe
    You'll have a new identity
    For a second of vanity
I want to change your destiny

    Follow me
    follow me
    I'll give you wings

  • Amanda Lear: Assassino Compilation

    1:5:41

Amanda Lear is a fascinating persona. Born as Alain Tapp in Saigon in 1939, he became a female impersonator in 1959, performing under the stage name Peki d'Oslo. It was an encounter with Salvador Dalí that gave Alain the chance to become a woman on a clinic in Casablanca in March 1963, and Amanda was born. After working as a model during the 60s, she befriended David Bowie who persuaded her she could use her unique voice to sing, and by 1975 she signed to Ariola Records, just as the disco era took off. As much as I would have loved to post Amanda's full Ariola catalogue on my channel, most of these songs now get blocked by Sony-BMG so I'm afraid that's not an option.

After she left Ariola in 1984, she became a superstar in Italy as a TV-host, but still released various singles before completing her first new album Secret Passion in three years, late 1986. This compilation compiles Amanda's non-album singles before and after that release.

The three mirror ball guys are back! Vince, Steve and Tim took the opportunity to deliver another hit as a follow up to their smasher Ma Baker with Boney M. This time, they collaborated in the studio with no one less than Amanda Lear to do some magic on Queen of Chinatown (for the first time on store in 1977).
Comparable to Ma Baker, Frisco Disco still aim to make sure to work with original tracks and vocals. Again, they ended up with a dance floor burner, which will move the crowd with groovy house beats and 70s Disco elements.
Alternatively, the release includes a clubby remix by Thias and another one by Beatport No. 1 legend Gary Caos.

    2:38

Nouveau single a paraitre I'm Coming Up :

15 mai 2010, Amanda Lear revisite lors d'un show télé special cage aux folles (avec Clavier et Bourdon), le tube de Gloria Gaynor i am what i am, titre extrait du dernier album Brand New love Affair de la brillantissime blonde !
    Official Amanda Lear:

    I am what I am
I am my one special creation
    So come take a look
    Give me the hook
    Of your avaition
    It's my world
That I've want to have a little pride in
    My world
    And it's not a place
    I have to hide in

    Life's not worth a dam
    Till you can say
Hé, what I am is what I am

    I am what I am
    I don't want praise
    I don't want pithy
    I bang my own drum
    Some think it's nice
    I think it's pretty

    And so what
    If I love each other
    And each spangle?
    Why not
Try and seek to try a different angle
    Your life is a sham
    Till you can say
Hé, what I am is what I am

    I am what I am
And what I am needs no excuses
    I deal my own set
    Sometimes it's yes
    And sometimes are juices
    It's my life
    And there is no return
    And no disposed
    What life
So it's time to open up your closet
    Life's not worth a dam
    Till you can say
Hé, what I am is what I am

  • Amanda Lear: Secret Passion Expanded Version, Vol. 1

    45:01

Amanda Lear's recording career had been lying low since her last full-length album Tam Tam, released in December 1983. While she recorded a few singles on smaller Italian labels over the next years, she was busier as a TV presenter and actress. By 1986, however, she signed a deal with Carrere Records in France for a come-back album with Italian producer Christian de Walden. The album was recorded in Los Angeles and Rome and hit the shops in January 1987. The first single Les Femmes (The Women) b/w the English version She Wolf had been released a couple of months earlier, the second single being a cover of Chip Taylor's Wild Thing whereas the UK opted for Time's Up as the first single. Amanda undertook extensive promotion for the album for nine months, although a car accident in March set her back for a few weeks. Despite the publicity and the release of a new version of Follow Me, the album did not sell well. While the synth sound may not have dated particularly well, the songs are quite entertaining, and Amanda as usual contributed some clever lyrics (I'm a MISTER-y is no exception ...)

    Volume 1
    00:01 Desire
    04:16 Wild Thing
07:49 I Want My Name On A Billboard
    12:13 She Wolf
    16:31 Mannequin
    20:00 I'm A Mistery
    24:36 Aphrodisiac
    28:23 Time's Up
33:20 Les Femmes (French Version 'She Wolf')
    37:34 Aphrodisiaque (French Version)
    41:10 Follow Me '87

  • AMANDA LEAR - Assassino

    3:57

  • Amanda Lear - Queen Of Chinatown

    4:25

This is a MultiVideo composed from the different versions of Amanda Lear's Queen Of Chinatown (1977). The audio is the studio recording, because in most cases the song was lip-synched (in those years). Though I'm not an especially big fan of Amanda's singing vocals, this song is really very catchy (written by herself!), and the backing vocals are just FANTASTIC! (If only I knew who they were...) Anyway, enjoy the song and let's get dance!
