Bohemian Rhapsody Grabs 5 Oscar Nominations Including Best Picture and Best Actor for Rami Malek

    2:03

Bohemian Rhapsody Grabs 5 Oscar Nominations Including Best Picture and Best Actor for Rami Malek
The film, that should pass the $800 million mark (worldwide) before the weekend, received high praise from the academy this morning with five nominations including Best Picture, Best Actor for Rami Malek (who portrayed the great Freddie Mercury), also Sound Editing, Sound Mixing, Film Editing.

For Best Picture it will compete against Black Panther, BlacKkKlansman, The Favourite, Green Book, Roma, A Star Is Born and Vice. As for Malik his competition includes Christian Bale in Vice, Bradley Cooper from A Star Is Born, Willem Dafoe in At Eternity's Gate and Viggo Mortensen in Green Book.

Bohemian Rhapsody was a hit at the box office but some fans had problems with things like the song sequence in the film and facts about characters but overall it hit the mark especially with Malek. It received a %62 approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes. It also won a Golden Globe for Drama Motion Picture and Malik won for Actor in a Drama Motion Picture.

Sacha Baron Cohen was originally set to play Mercury before he left over creative differences then Director Bryan Singer was gone two weeks before filming was finished only to have Dexter Fletcher finish the film. Bohemian Rhapsody also has the title of the biggest Music Biopic Of all-time at the Box Office.

Overall “The Favourite” and “Roma” tied for the most nominations this year with 10.

The 91st Academy Awards will be presented on Feb. 24 from the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood. - by John Beaudin

    NEMO Theme | Piano Tutorial

    53

Music from the disney's animated movieFinding Nemo.

Finding Nemo is a 2003 American computer-animated adventure film produced by Pixar Animation Studios and released by Walt Disney Pictures. Written and directed by Andrew Stanton with co-direction by Lee Unkrich, the film stars the voices of Albert Brooks, Ellen DeGeneres, Alexander Gould, and Willem Dafoe. It tells the story of the overprotective ocellaris clownfish named Marlin who, along with a regal blue tang named Dory, searches for his abducted son Nemo all the way to Sydney Harbour. Along the way, Marlin learns to take risks and comes to terms with Nemo taking care of himself.

Finding Nemo was released on May 30, 2003; the film won the Academy Award for Best Animated Feature, and was nominated in three more categories, including Best Original Screenplay. Finding Nemo became the highest-grossing animated film at the time and was the second-highest-grossing film of 2003, earning a total of $871 million worldwide by the end of its initial theatrical run.[2]

The film is the best-selling DVD title of all time, with over 40 million copies sold as of 2006,[3] and was the highest-grossing G-rated film of all time before Pixar's own Toy Story 3 overtook it. The film was re-released in 3D in 2012. In 2008, the American Film Institute named it the 10th greatest animated film ever made as part of their 10 Top 10 lists.[4] In a 2016 poll of international critics conducted by BBC, Finding Nemo was voted one of the 100 greatest motion pictures since 2000.[5] A sequel, Finding Dory, was released on June 17, 2016 in the United States.

    ▶ Learn this arrangement:

The Pink Panther Theme is an instrumental composition by Henry Mancini written as the theme for the 1963 film The Pink Panther and subsequently nominated for the 1964 Academy Award for Best Original Score. The eponymous cartoon character created for the film's opening credits by David DePatie and Friz Freleng was animated in time to the tune. The tenor saxophone solo was played by Plas Johnson.

The tune was included on the film's soundtrack album and issued as a single (in the United States) in 1964; the single reached the Top 10 on the U.S. Billboard adult contemporary chart and won three Grammy Awards.

Various recordings of the tune were featured in the opening credits of all The Pink Panther films, with the exception of A Shot in the Dark and Inspector Clouseau. It has also been used in countless works featuring the animated Pink Panther character.

The Pink Panther Theme, originally played in the key of E minor, is noted for its quirky, unusual use of chromaticism which is derived from the Hungarian minor scale (gypsy/romani scale[1]) with raised 4th and 7th degrees.

Tom and Jerry at MGM - music performed live by the John Wilson Orchestra - 2013 BBC Proms

    6:36

A medley of the well-known energetic music by composer Scott Bradley from the 1940's and 1950's Tom and Jerry cartoons. Wonderfully performed live by the John Wilson Orchestra at the 2013 BBC Proms in the Royal Albert Hall in London. Arranged by Peter Morris and John Wilson.

Pete Morris, who worked on the arrangement with John Wilson, on 4 September wrote the following in response to questions about this video: we wanted to create a score that wasn't too fragmented and that didn't rely on visuals so the music you hear is a compilation of some of the best bits of Scott Bradley's music. There is no single video for the music - it comes from eight different cartoons: Smitten Kitten, Sufferin' Cats, The Framed Cat, Cat Fishin' Just Ducky, Jerry and Jumbo, The Cat Comes to Dinner and Mouse for Sale.

On 8 september Pete Morris added: John is a dab hand at reconstructing scores from audio. Check his Wiki page for info. In this case, however, we used score fragments, archives and a lot of patience. I used FCP to extract candidate snippets of video and linked them to create a 3 candidate narratives which John and I then worked on. Copyright is a nightmare (MGM, Warner, Sony, Turner, EMI have all owned bits in the past) - only JW has the clout to cut though that quagmire. Scores are as rare as hens' teeth.

On 16 September Pete added: Bradley's original scores were played by typically 20 to 25 musos. In fact, if you look at the beginning of the performance there are only 3 violins, 1 viola, 1 cello and 1 bass, to start with the original MGM sound. However, more instruments are added as the piece progresses to the full 100-piece orchestra at the end. Scott Bradley also preferred orchestral sound effects to ones added by the sound department, hence the big shock chords that you find at various places.

    Born free ~ John Barry

    2:38

John Barry Prendergast, OBE (3 November 1933 – 30 January 2011) was an English composer and conductor of film music. He composed the scores for 11 of the James Bond films between 1963 and 1987, and also arranged and performed the James Bond Theme to the first film in the series, 1962's Dr. No. He wrote the Grammy- and Academy Award-winning scores to the films Dances with Wolves and Out of Africa, as well as the theme for the British television cult series The Persuaders!, in a career spanning over 50 years. In 1999, he was appointed OBE for services to music.

Born in York, Barry spent his early years working in cinemas owned by his father. During his national service with the British Army in Cyprus, Barry began performing as a musician after learning to play the trumpet. Upon completing his national service, he formed his own band in 1957, The John Barry Seven. He later developed an interest in composing and arranging music, making his début for television in 1958. He came to the notice of the makers of the first James Bond film Dr. No, who were dissatisfied with a theme for James Bond given to them by Monty Norman. This started a successful association between Barry and Eon Productions that lasted for 25 years.

He received many awards for his work, including five Academy Awards; two for Born Free, and one each for The Lion in Winter (for which he also won the first BAFTA Award for Best Film Music), Dances with Wolves and Out of Africa (both of which also won him Grammy Awards). He also received ten Golden Globe Award nominations, winning once for Best Original Score for Out of Africa in 1986. Barry completed his last film score, Enigma, in 2001 and recorded the successful album Eternal Echoes the same year. He then concentrated chiefly on live performances and co-wrote the music to the musical Brighton Rock in 2004 alongside Don Black. In 2001, Barry became a Fellow of the British Academy of Songwriters, Composers and Authors, and, in 2005, he was made a Fellow of the British Academy of Film and Television Arts. Barry was married four times and had four children. He moved to the United States in 1975 and lived there for the remainder of his life until his death in 2011.

In this EASY PIANO TUTORIAL you can learn HOW TO PLAY Star Wars Main Theme on piano. ;)

    🌟Fun fact:
Star Wars is an American epic space opera franchise, centered on a film series created by George Lucas. It depicts the adventures of various characters a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away.

The franchise began in 1977 with the release of the film Star Wars (subtitled Episode IV: A New Hope in 1981), which became a worldwide pop culture phenomenon. It was followed by the similarly successful sequels The Empire Strikes Back (1980) and Return of the Jedi (1983); these three films constitute the original Star Wars trilogy. A prequel trilogy was later released between 1999 and 2005, which received a more mixed reaction from critics and fans in comparison to the original trilogy. More recently, a sequel trilogy began with the release of Star Wars: The Force Awakens (2015). All seven films were nominated for Academy Awards (with wins going to the first two films) and have all been commercial successes with a combined box office revenue of $7.075 billion, making Star Wars the third highest-grossing film series. Additional theatrical films outside of the main saga include Star Wars: The Clone Wars (2008), an animated film, and Rogue One (2016), which is the first in a series of anthology films.

The series has spawned an extensive media franchise—the Star Wars expanded universe—including books, television series, computer and video games, and comic books, resulting in significant development of the series's fictional universe. Star Wars also holds a Guinness World Records title for the Most successful film merchandising franchise. In 2015, the total value of the Star Wars franchise was estimated at USD $41.9 billion, including box-office receipts as well as profits from their video games and DVD sales.

In 2012, The Walt Disney Company acquired Lucasfilm for $4.06 billion and earned the distribution rights to all subsequent Star Wars films, beginning with the release of The Force Awakens in 2015. The former distributor, 20th Century Fox, retains the physical distribution rights to the first two Star Wars trilogies, owning permanent rights for the original 1977 film and holding the rights to Episodes I–III, V and VI until May 2020. Walt Disney Studios owns digital distribution rights to all the Star Wars films, excluding A New Hope.

PURE IMAGINATION Theme | Piano Tutorial

    3:03

    Music from the movieWilly Wonka(1971).

Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory is a 1971 American musical fantasy family film directed by Mel Stuart, and starring Gene Wilder as Willy Wonka. It is an adaptation of the 1964 novel Charlie and the Chocolate Factory by Roald Dahl. Dahl was credited with writing the film's screenplay; however, David Seltzer, who went uncredited in the film, was brought in to re-work the screenplay against Dahl's wishes, making major changes to the ending and adding musical numbers. These changes and other decisions made by the director led Dahl to disown the film.[4][5]

The film tells the story of an only child Charlie Bucket (Peter Ostrum) with no aunts, uncles, cousins or sibings, who receives a Golden Ticket and visits Willy Wonka's chocolate factory with four other children from around the world. Filming took place in Munich in 1970, and the film was released by Paramount Pictures on June 30, 1971. With a budget of just $3 million, the film received generally positive reviews and earned $4 million by the end of its original run. The film became highly popular in part through repeated television airings and home entertainment sales.[6] In 1972, the film received an Academy Award nomination for Best Original Score, and Wilder was nominated for a Golden Globe as Best Actor in a Musical or Comedy, but both nominations lost to Fiddler on the Roof. The film also introduced the song The Candy Man, which went on to become a popular hit when recorded by Sammy Davis Jr. In 2014, the film was selected for preservation in the United States National Film Registry by the Library of Congress as being culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant.

A film nominated for 10 academy awards (winning 6 of them), Mad Max: Fury Road is an action film about apocalyptic wastelands, corrupted humanity, and flaming guitars. The composer for the film was Tom Holkenberg (AKA Junkie XL). The score features epic strings, epic guitars and epic drums, and epic everything else. Mad Max was ranked by both Metacritic and Rotten Tomatoes as being the best scored film of 2015. I hope this arrangement can convince you of that.

    Lyrics:
    Hakuna Matata!
    What a wonderful phrase
    Hakuna Matata!
    Ain't no passing craze

    It means no worries
For the rest of your days
    It's our problem-free philosophy
    Hakuna Matata!

Why, when he was a young warthog
    When I was a young wart-hoooog!
    Very nice!
    Thanks!
He found his aroma lacked a certain appeal
He could clear the Savannah after every meal
    I'm a sensitive soul, though I seem thick-skinned
And it hurt that my friends never stood downwind
    And oh, the shame
    (He was ashamed!)
    Thought of changin' my name
    (Oh, what's in a name?)
    And I got downhearted
    (How did you feel?)
    Every time that I-
Pumbaa! Not in front of the kids!
    Oh... sorry

    Hakuna Matata!
    What a wonderful phrase
    Hakuna Matata!
    Ain't no passing craze
    It means no worries
For the rest of your days
    Yeah, sing it, kid!
    It's our problem-free philosophy
    Hakuna Matata!

    Hakuna Matata
    Hakuna Matata
    Hakuna Matata
    Hakuna

    It means no worries
For the rest of your days
    It's our problem-free philosophy

    🌟Fun fact:
In 1940, Carl Fredricksen is a young 9-year-old boy who idolizes famous explorer Charles Muntz. Muntz has been accused of fabricating the skeleton of a giant exotic bird he says he discovered at Paradise Falls and vows to return there to catch one alive. One day, Carl befriends a girl named Ellie, who is also a fan of Muntz. She confides to Carl her desire to move her clubhouse—an abandoned house in the neighborhood—to a cliff overlooking Paradise Falls. Carl and Ellie eventually get married and live together in the restored house. Carl sells toy balloons from a cart at a zoo Ellie works at. After suffering a miscarriage and being told they cannot have a child, the two decide to realize their dream of visiting Paradise Falls. They try to save for the trip, but repeatedly end up spending the money on more pressing needs. Finally, an elderly Carl arranges for the trip, but Ellie suddenly becomes ill and dies.

Up was released on May 29, 2009, and opened the 2009 Cannes Film Festival, becoming the first animated and 3D film to do so. The film became a great financial success, accumulating over $735 million in its theatrical release. Up received universal acclaim, with most reviewers commending the humor and heart of the film. Edward Asner was praised for his portrayal of Carl, and a montage of Carl and his wife Ellie aging together was widely lauded. The film received five Academy Award nominations, including Best Picture, making it the second animated film in history to receive such a nomination, following Beauty and the Beast (1991).

Taxi Driver is a 1976 American neo-noir psychological thriller film[4] directed by Martin Scorsese, written by Paul Schrader, and starring Robert De Niro, Jodie Foster, Cybill Shepherd, Harvey Keitel, Peter Boyle, Albert Brooks (in his first film) and Leonard Harris. Set in a decaying and morally bankrupt New York City following the Vietnam War, the film tells the story of a lonely veteran (De Niro) working as a taxi driver, who descends into insanity as he plots to assassinate both the presidential candidate (Harris) for whom the woman he is infatuated with (Shepherd) works, and the pimp (Keitel) of an underage prostitute (Foster) he befriends.
A critical and commercial success upon release and nominated for four Academy Awards, including for Best Picture, Best Actor (for De Niro) and Best Supporting Actress (for Foster), Taxi Driver won the Palme d'Or at the 1976 Cannes Film Festival. It is regularly cited by critics, film directors, and audiences alike as one of the greatest films of all time. In 2012, Sight & Sound named it the 31st-best film ever in its decennial critics' poll, ranked with The Godfather Part II, and the fifth-greatest film of all time on its directors' poll. The film was considered culturally, historically or aesthetically significant by the US Library of Congress and was selected for preservation in the National Film Registry in 1994.

You want a version that you can sing-along to like a videoke/karaoke my friend? Your wish is my command!! Here you go! sing your heart out!!

This is my instrumental acoustic guitar minus one (vocals) cover of James Ingram's massive 1994 hit single Just Once

Info about James Ingram from his wiki page:

James Edward Ingram (born February 16, 1952)[1] is an American singer, songwriter, record producer, and instrumentalist. He is a two-time Grammy Award-winner and a two-time Academy Award nominee for Best Original Song. Since beginning his career in 1973, Ingram has charted eight Top 40 hits on the US Billboard Hot 100 chart from the early 1980s until the early 1990s, as well as thirteen top 40 hits on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart. In addition, he charted 20 hits on the Adult Contemporary chart (including two number-ones). He had two number-one singles on the Hot 100: the first, a duet with fellow R&B artist Patti Austin, 1982's Baby, Come to Me topped the U.S. pop chart in 1983; I Don't Have the Heart, which became his second number-one in 1990 was his only number-one as a solo artist. In between these hits he also recorded the song Somewhere Out There with fellow recording artist Linda Ronstadt for the animated film An American Tail. The song and the music video both became gigantic hits. Ingram co-wrote The Day I Fall in Love, from the motion picture Beethoven's 2nd (1993), and singer Patty Smyth's Look What Love Has Done, from the motion picture Junior (1994), which earned him nominations for Best Original Song from the Oscars, Golden Globe, and Grammy Awards in 1994 and 1995.

    Early life[edit]
Born in Akron, Ohio, Ingram lived with his mother and father until he was 10 years old, then moved in with his grandmother. He later moved to Los Angeles and played with the band Revelation Funk, which made an appearance in the Rudy Ray Moore film Dolemite. He also later played keyboards for Ray Charles before becoming famous. Meanwhile, his younger brother, Phillip Ingram, became prominent as a member of the Motown group, Switch.

    Career[edit]
In 1981, Ingram provided the vocals to Just Once and One Hundred Ways on Quincy Jones's album The Dude, which earned him triple Grammy nominations, including Best New Artist. One Hundred Ways won him the Grammy Award for Best Male R&B Vocal Performance for his work. On December 11, 1981, Ingram appeared as a guest on the Canadian comedy series SCTV (aired on NBC), singing Just Once.[2] Ingram's debut album, It's Your Night, appeared in 1983, including the ballad There's No Easy Way. He also worked with other notable artists such as Donna Summer, Ray Charles, Anita Baker, Viktor Lazlo, Nancy Wilson, Natalie Cole, and Kenny Rogers. In October 1990, he scored a No. 1 hit on the Billboard Hot 100 with the love ballad I Don't Have the Heart,[3] from his It's Real album.

In 1984, Ingram received three Grammy nominations: How Do You Keep the Music Playing? (his second duet with recording artist Patti Austin), for Best Pop Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocals; the US Top 10 single, P.Y.T. (Pretty Young Thing) for Michael Jackson which he and Quincy Jones co-wrote, for Best R&B Song; and the track Party Animal for Best Male R&B Vocal Performance. In early 1985, he was again triple nominated, for his debut album for Best Male R&B Vocal Performance, and its single, Yah Mo B There (a duet with fellow R&B musician Michael McDonald), for Best R&B Song and Best R&B Performance by a Duo or Group, winning the latter.

    University Cinema Challenge

    24:31

Alice Guy-Blaché? Andrei Tarkovksy? Audrey or Katherine Hepburn? Daniel Day-Lewis? Friends...? This video collates questions on cinema (film, TV & animation) from the British quiz show 'University Challenge' using excerpts from Ep1-21 of the 2018/19 season.

For educational & entertainment purposes only.

    ---

I wish there was a quiz show equivalent to University Challenge but one which was entirely dedicated to cinema, its history, directors, actors, filmmaking, costumes, set designs, etc, also involving subjects in which cinema interrelates with such as philosophy, literature, geography, politics, science & other artforms. Although UC does this already to an extent, a quiz show with specific questions aimed at a cinephile audience would be nice.

Instead of questions like “What medium did Alice Guy-Blaché work in?” and “Who made 'Stalker'?” It could be something like “'The Cabbage Fairy' is cited as one of the first narrative films made in 1896 by Alice Guy-Blaché. After directing and producing hundreds of films for the Gaumont company, she started her own company in 1910. What is the name of that company?” and “What were the three countries Andrei Tarkovsky spent in between his exile from the Soviet Union in 1982 to his death in 1986? (But even that may be too easy for a question on Tarkovsky).

The mascot could be a DVD that represents the collective personality and shared interest of the team. And they would come up with their own team names. (E.g – “The P.T. Wes Thom Andersons”)

Music rounds would be on scores, composers and songs featured in films (similar to how it already is on UC).

Picture rounds would have to be more niche than just name the film from the still... Maybe a close-up of an inanimate object or a certain detail specific to a film but not totally obvious? (E.g. Teams are shown a close-up of a unique piece of clothing).

Also, maybe a more hospitable host would be nice. Someone like Mark Cousins because of his knowledge on the history of cinema (and because I like his accent). However, in the meantime, enjoy this frankenstein version of a cinema quiz show and Jeremy Paxman's peculiar pronunciation of particular names.

I don't think you can join me next time so it's goodbye from this video - goodbye, and it's goodbye from me - goodbye.
(but suggestions, comments & proposed questions for this imaginary cinema quiz show are welcome.)
